This gateway configuration can be easily completed by using the free IXXAT configuration tool included in the shipping content. The configuration tool will automatically generate a CDC configuration file for CANopen networks and a GSDML file for Profinet. CANopen configuration is based on EDS files. This GSDML file allows for simple gateway integration into PROFINET networks and PLC application access to the gateway. Therefore, the gateway represents a separate I/O device. All data on the CANopen side is exchanged with the PROFINET network through the gateway, and these data are defined in the GSDML file as variables with variable names, data sizes, and data directions. thisThe dual ended method significantly simplifies the configuration.
This gateway integrates dual end machines, allowing for simple integration into linear topology structures. The connection between CANopen bus and power supply is achieved through screw terminals. Device configuration and firmware updates can be achieved through USB 2.0 or remotely via Ethernet ports.

The external gateway protocol is used to transmit information between non core adjacent gateways. Non core gateways contain the routing information of all the gateways directly adjacent to them on the Internet and the connected machine information, but they do not contain the information of other gateways on the Internet. For the vast majority of EGPs, they only limit the maintenance of local or wide area network information for their services. This can prevent excessive routing information from being transmitted between local area networks or wide area networks. EGP forces the exchange of routing information between non core gateways.
Due to the use of GGP for core gateways and EGP for non core gateways, both of which are applied on the Internet, there must be some method to enable communication between the two. The Internet enables any autonomous (non core) gateway to send "reachable" information to other systems, which must be sent to at least one core gateway. If there is a larger autonomous network, it is often assumed that there is a gateway to handle this reachable information.
