German Metrotec Micro Oxygen Measurement System (ppm level)

The German Metrotec micro oxygen measurement system (ppm level) is designed based on a stable zirconia structure that can generate different electromotive force signals for different oxygen contents. Zirconia is a ceramic material also known as a solid electrolyte, which can serve as an excellent oxygen ion conductor at high temperatures.
Within a specific temperature range (depending on the doping of the relevant material), this ion conductor can fill the gaps in the lattice with oxygen ions. Oxygen ions appear on conductive surfaces typically made of platinum.
Therefore, measuring the oxygen concentration in a gas plays a decisive role in determining the range of oxygen activity and the number of oxygen ions.
The oxygen probe is composed of this solid electrolyte. On both sides of a high-density zirconia solid electrolyte, porous platinum layers with a thickness of several micrometers to tens of micrometers are made by sintering as electrodes, and platinum wires are welded on the electrodes as leads to form an oxygen concentration cell. If a reference gas (air) is introduced to the left side of the cell and the measured gas is introduced to the right side of the cell, there is no possibility of mixing.
Depending on the usage environment, the oxygen probe can choose between self heating or external heating. The oxygen probe using external heating is mainly inserted into the high-temperature furnace body, and the temperature of zirconia is increased by utilizing the temperature inside the furnace body; The use of self heating oxygen probes is generally in environments where the measured gas temperature is below 600 ℃ (the measurement principle requires the temperature of zirconia ceramics to be within the range of 500-650 ℃).
The self heating oxygen probe is equipped with a temperature regulator to maintain a stable set temperature. For oxygen probes, the ceramic temperature when measuring oxygen content is a very important factor.
The oxygen probe is embedded in a stainless steel housing, which has an aluminum casing with a plug connection and can be connected with a cable. A Z-series or U-series signal converter needs to be connected in order to function properly
