*News: According to local television reports, as of 9:00 am local time on the 6th,The earthquake in central Italy has caused 27 deaths and 40 people missing.

The monitoring report from the Italian public safety department stated that the epicenter depth of the earthquake was 33 kilometers, located in the city of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of central Italy, 95 kilometers northeast of the capital city of Rome.The public safety authorities in L'Aquila measured the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.8, while the United States Geological Survey and the Rome Fire Department measured the magnitude as 6.3 and 6.7, respectively.

According to local Italian media reports, there are still some people trapped in the ruins, including several students in the city of L'Aquila. Rescue personnel are working hard to rescue with the help of search and rescue dogs.

Mayor Massimo Cialente of L'Aquila said that the city was severely affected due to its proximity to the epicenter, with many houses destroyed and tens of thousands of people leaving their homes.

L'Aquila is located in a valley surrounded by the Apennine Mountains and is part of the Abruzzo region in central Italy, with approximately 70000 residents.

Italian officials say that as rescue efforts continue to deepen, the number of casualties may further increase.
