As a technological pioneer in energy transformation, ABB, with the theme of "AI+power: building a new energy system", made its debut at the China International Power Industry Expo&Green Energy Equipment Expo and the Yarlung Zangbo River Hydropower Station Project Construction Supply Chain Expo (Chengdu Power Equipment Expo) held in Chengdu from May 28 to 30.
In this exhibition, ABB focuses on the construction needs of the Southwest Clean Energy Base, with "AI+power" technology as the core, providing customized solutions for hydropower projects, zero carbon parks, high-altitude scenarios, etc., helping to build a safe, efficient, and low-carbon new power system, responding to the call of "promoting energy structure optimization and upgrading" in the "15th Five Year Plan", and working together with customers to create a sustainable energy future.
ABB Electrical
power distribution systemThe head of the business in China, Luo Hui, attended the opening ceremony and dialogue session of the High Quality Development Conference for Hydropower. He gathered with representatives from the China Water Resources and Electric Power Quality Management Association, Wujiang Hydropower, Huadian, Changjiang Power, and China Power Construction to discuss new paths for high-quality development of hydropower construction and how to move from "scale expansion" to a new stage of "green intelligence".
Luo Hui
Head of ABB Electrical Distribution Systems Business in China
Luo Hui stated that ABB is not only a supplier of electrical equipment, but also a core technology partner in the construction of new energy systems. The current acceleration of the transformation of hydropower equipment is divided into three dimensions: relying on digital twin technology to build a visualized energy and carbon control system for the entire station, using AI intelligent prediction to achieve "active safety" of equipment, and applying green low-carbon equipment to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle. From various hydropower stations to integrated energy bases of water, wind, solar, and storage, we have launched an innovative distribution model of "source grid load storage" to help achieve dual improvements in energy efficiency and grid resilience. China is currently the world's largest hydropower market, leading the global hydropower development. ABB products and solutions not only play a role in local projects, but also accompany Chinese enterprises to go global, providing strong support for key hydropower projects under the global energy transition.
Panoramic presentation of the four major exhibition areas,
Unlock diverse application scenarios of "AI+power"
ABB's "AI+Power" uses global perception and AI algorithms to build a smart center, relying on the SSC600 platform to achieve a 7-day fault prediction accuracy of 95%, promoting operation and maintenance from passive repair to proactive predictive maintenance. By using millisecond level fault isolation to ensure the smooth integration of new energy into the grid, intelligent resource allocation to enhance green power consumption, incubation of virtual power plants and other new business models, we help users transform into energy producers and consumers, and safeguard the safe, efficient and low-carbon development of the new power system. At the exhibition site, ABB vividly demonstrated the landing scene of "AI+power" technology through four characteristic exhibition areas.
In the "AI+Power" exhibition area, we will focus on innovative distribution models and showcase SSC600 AI+power system failure prediction, SmartBoxAI health assistant - Dr. Vivian, on site MNS ® Solutions such as digital management platforms use algorithms to achieve early warning of equipment failures and real-time monitoring of health status, significantly reducing operation and maintenance costs, improving the efficiency of power system operation, and upgrading the operation and maintenance mode from "passive maintenance" to "active prevention".
In the zero carbon park exhibition area, we focus on scenarios such as green power consumption and microgrids. Through the iCE600 energy carbon management platform, virtual power plants and main distribution microgrid collaborative solutions, and ABB Xiamen Industrial Center green microgrid model, we comprehensively present the landing value of "green power direct supply+intelligent microgrid". On the supply side, ABB's solution ensures that every aggregated resource responds accurately; On the demand side, it helps users discover the amount of electricity wasted per kilowatt hour.
On site physical exhibits include MNS ® 3.0 Digital Low Voltage Switchgear PrimeGear ® ZX0 environmentally friendly gas insulated switchgear, SafePlus 40.5kV gas insulated ring main unit and compact switchgear, 24kV iVD4 medium voltage intelligent circuit breaker and other distribution equipment. These products have high reliability and strong environmental adaptability, and can adapt to the harsh working conditions of large hydropower bases in Southwest China and high-altitude areas, providing solid power guarantee for super projects.
ABB's practical achievements in large-scale energy, power, and industrial engineering were showcased on site. ABB has long been deeply involved in Southwest hydropower and has provided medium and low voltage distribution system solutions and smart energy management systems for users such as Three Gorges, Huadian, Huaneng, and State Grid. Successful projects have been carried out in key areas such as the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, Lancang River Basin, Yalong River Basin, and Wujiang River Basin, demonstrating ABB's profound accumulation in traditional power equipment and new energy fields, as well as its firm commitment to supporting high-quality delivery of engineering general contracting and empowering the construction of new energy systems.
