the 19th century
- In 1836, the Schneider brothers took over the struggling Creusot foundry (71), and two years later they founded Schneider&Cie.

The first 50 years of the 20th century
- In 1919, Schneider established bases in Germany and Eastern Europe through the European Industrial and Financial Union (EIFU). In the following years, Schneider formed an alliance with Westinghouse, the major electrical group at the time, expanding its business scope to include the production and manufacturing of power plants, electrical equipment, and electric locomotives.
- After the war, Schneider gradually stopped weapons manufacturing and turned to the construction, steel, and power industries. In order to achieve diversification of the company's business and open up new markets, Schneider underwent an overall structural restructuring.
Late 20th century
- 1981-1997: Schneider Electric abandoned some non strategic activities and continued to focus on the power industry. In order to implement this strategy, Schneider has made several strategic mergers and acquisitions: TE Electric, Shi Kuai Electric, and Mei Lanyan became members of Schneider Electric Group in 1988, 1991, and 1992, respectively.
- In 1999, Schneider achieved significant development in the field of super terminals by acquiring Lexel, the second largest power distribution company in Europe. In May 1999, the group changed its name to Schneider Electric, emphasizing more clearly the company's professional dedication to the electrical field. After changing its name, Schneider Electric adopted a strategy of accelerating development and enhancing market competitiveness.
- 2000-2009: With the development of its own structure and the implementation of the company's merger policy, Schneider Electric positioned itself in new market segments, including human-machine dialogue, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), motion control, sound data imaging systems, sensing technology, building automation and safety (such as Digital, Crouzet, Clipsal, MGE uninterruptible power supply system, TAC, Kavlico, Andover control, etc.).
