Thermistor is a linear component. It is called a linear component because it has been found through experiments that under certain conditions, the current flowing through a resistor is proportional to the voltage across the resistor - that is, it conforms to Ohm's law: I=U/R
Common carbon film resistors or metal film resistors can be simulated using linear resistors when the temperature is constant and the voltage and current values are limited within the rated conditions. If the voltage or current value exceeds the specified value, the resistor will not follow Ohm's law due to overheating and may even be burned out. The relationship between the operating voltage and current of a linear resistor is shown in Figure 1. There are many types of resistors, usually divided into carbon film resistors, metal resistors, wire wound resistors, etc. It also includes fixed resistors and variable resistors, photoresistors, varistors, thermistors, etc.
Generally speaking, using a multimeter can easily determine the quality of a resistor: adjust the multimeter to the appropriate resistance range and place the two probes of the multimeter on both ends of the resistor to read the resistance value from the multimeter. It should be noted that when testing resistors, hands should not touch the metal part of the probe. However, in actual electrical maintenance, resistance damage rarely occurs. Pay special attention to whether the resistor has virtual soldering or detachment. The relationship between resistance and temperature: The resistance value of a resistive element is generally related to temperature. The physical quantity that measures the degree to which resistance is affected by temperature istemperature coefficientIt is defined as the change in resistance value for every 1 ° C increase in temperaturepercentageIf the resistance value of any resistor element at temperature t1 is R1, and when the temperature rises to t2, the resistance value is R2, then the (average) temperature coefficient of the resistor in the temperature range of t1~t2 is. If R2>R1, then a>0, R is called positive temperature
The main function is to obstruct the flow of current, which is applied in current limiting, current diversion, voltage reduction, voltage division, load and capacitor matching, filter and impedance matching, etc The functions in digital circuits include pull-up resistors and pull-down resistors.
