Ethylene oxide is a commonly used sterilizing agent for medical devices, which has the characteristics of strong penetration ability and good sterilization effect, and is widely used in the disinfection of medical supplies. However, ethylene oxide itself is a toxic gas. If the sterilized product cannot fully evaporate the ethylene oxide gas and the residual toxicity reaches a certain level, it will pose a threat to the human body.
At present, the most effective method for detecting residual organic solvents in medical devices such as epoxyethane and packaging materials using headspace chromatography is headspace gas chromatography. The GC9860 dedicated gas chromatograph is combined with a headspace sampler to heat and equilibrate the tested sample (gas-liquid or gas-solid), directly extract the top gas and inject it into the gas chromatograph, and use a hydrogen flame to detect the composition and content of residual solvents. Headspace gas chromatography is easy to operate, has good separation efficiency, and high analysis efficiency. This instrument is particularly suitable for the analysis of volatile trace components and is an essential testing instrument for quality control of medical device sterilization.

The GC-9860 headspace gas chromatograph for ethylene oxide analysis is a cost-effective single detector model designed specifically for routine sample analysis, with all the advantages of a network chromatograph.
