Cell surgery robot opens up a new field of medical robotics

In 2013, known as the 'year of robot explosion', robots replacing traditional machines will become a global trend. In 2012, China had become the world's second largest robot market after Japan, and the Chinese robot industry had begun to enter an explosive growth period. Medical robots are intelligent service robots that can independently develop operation plans, determine action programs based on actual situations, and then convert actions into movements of operating mechanisms. According to their different purposes, medical robots are divided into clinical medical robots, nursing robots, medical teaching robots, and service robots for people with disabilities.
 
Clinical medical robots include surgical robots and diagnostic and therapeutic robots, which can perform surgical procedures or diagnostics, such as Japan's WAPRU-4 chest tumor diagnostic robot. Currently, American scientists are developing a surgical robot called the "Da Vinci System", which has four mechanical tentacles and can perform heart valve repair surgery and cancerous tissue resection surgery under the control of doctors.
 
Cell surgery robots are a subdivision direction of clinical medical robots, which puts forward higher precision requirements for clinical medical robot technology. Sun Dong, an IEEE academician and member of the Biomedical Science Department of the National Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education, said, "Cell surgery robots are traditional medical robots that have been upgraded from organ level to cell level, and even to subcellular level.
 
He believes that cell surgery robots represent a new frontier in the development of medical robots. This innovative technology enables various complex surgical operations at both single-cell and subcellular levels through the use of specially designed automated micro nano manipulation tools, providing a new technological platform for modern medical diagnosis and treatment.
