What are the precautions for pressure reset switches
Date: 2025-11-25Read: 1
Pressure reset switch is a device that automatically controls the on/off of circuits based on pressure changes, widely used in hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, water supply and other systems. To ensure its normal operation and extend its service life, the following precautions should be taken when using it:

1、 Precautions before installation

  1. Confirm parameter matching
    • Check whether the rated pressure range and contact capacity (voltage/current) of the switch are consistent with the system requirements to avoid damage or misoperation caused by using beyond the range.
    • Confirm the type of medium (such as liquid, gas, corrosive medium, etc.) and choose materials that are corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant (such as stainless steel, plastic, etc.).
  2. Installation location selection
    • Avoid installing in locations with severe vibration, high temperature, or direct sunlight to prevent affecting pressure sensing accuracy or accelerating component aging.
    • Ensure that the installation direction of the switch is correct (such as vertical installation, horizontal installation, etc.), and some switches have strict requirements for installation angles.
  3. environmental adaptability
    • In humid, dusty or corrosive environments, switches with high protection levels (such as IP65 or above) should be selected and sealed properly.
    • harshIn temperature environments (such as low-temperature freezing or high-temperature overheating), insulation or heat dissipation measures need to be taken.

2、 Precautions during installation process

  1. pipeline connection
    • Ensure tight pipeline connections to avoid leaks. When using raw tape or sealing gasket, be careful not to block the pressure sensing hole.
    • Clean the impurities inside the pipeline before installation to prevent particles from entering the switch and causing jamming or wear.
  2. electrical connection
    • Connect the wires strictly according to the wiring diagram to avoid short circuits or burnt contacts caused by incorrect wiring.
    • Use wires of appropriate specifications to ensure matching contact capacity and avoid heating when high currents pass through.
    • The wiring terminals need to be tightened to prevent looseness from causing poor contact or sparking.
  3. Debugging and Calibration
    • After installation, pressure calibration is required. By adjusting the set screw or knob, the switch can accurately operate at the target pressure value.
    • Simulate pressure changes (such as slow pressure increase or decrease), observe whether the switch action is sensitive and whether the reset is reliable.

3、 Precautions during use

  1. Avoid overpressure operation
    • It is strictly prohibited for the system pressure to exceed the rated upper limit of the switch, otherwise it may cause diaphragm rupture, spring failure, or contact adhesion.
    • If the system pressure fluctuates greatly, it is necessary to install a buffer device (such as an accumulator) or choose a switch with strong impact resistance.
  2. Prevent frequent movements
    • Reduce frequent on-off of switches near critical pressure to extend contact life. This can be achieved by adjusting the set value or increasing the hysteresis range.
    • For situations that require frequent switching, it is recommended to use solid-state pressure switches or electronic pressure sensors.
  3. Regular inspection and maintenance
    • Visual inspectionRegularly check whether the switch housing is damaged, whether the wiring is loose, and whether the medium leaks.
    • Functional testingVerify whether the switch action and reset are normal by manually applying or releasing pressure.
    • Cleaning and maintenanceWipe the outer shell with a clean cloth to avoid the accumulation of oil and dust; For the parts in contact with the medium, impurities need to be cleaned regularly.

4、 Special scenario precautions

  1. Flammable and explosive environment
    • Select explosion-proof pressure reset switches and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards (such as ATEX, IECEx, etc.).
    • To avoid generating electric sparks, explosion-proof connectors should be used for wiring, and good grounding should be ensured.
  2. Food/Pharmaceutical Industry
    • Choose materials that meet hygiene standards (such as 316L stainless steel) to ensure they are non-toxic, corrosion-resistant, and easy to clean.
    • Avoid the accumulation of media in dead corners inside the switch to prevent bacterial growth.
  3. low-temperature environment
    • Low temperature may cause changes in the viscosity or freezing of the medium, so it is necessary to choose low-temperature resistant models or install insulation devices.
    • Preheat the system before starting to avoid the switch getting stuck due to frozen media.

5、 Fault handling and safety tips

  1. Common Faults
    • inactionCheck if the pressure has reached the set value, if the contacts are stuck, and if the circuit is open.
    • malfunctionAdjust the set value, check for excessive pressure fluctuations, and eliminate vibration interference.
    • leakReplace the seal or re tighten the connection.
  2. safe operation
    • Repair or replace after power outage to avoid electric shock caused by live operation.
    • When replacing the switch, it is necessary to release the system pressure to prevent high-pressure medium from spraying out and injuring people.
    • Abandoned switches should be disposed of according to environmental protection requirements to avoid polluting the environment.
