This year, the demand for China's fiber optic cable market is expected to soar
Date: 2016-08-15Read: 3

In 2015, the optical communication market was hot under the favorable policies of 'broadband China' strategy, 'Internet+' action, and speed increase and fee reduction. Can the strong performance of 2015 be continued in 2016? Professor Lin Zhong from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications predicts that the market demand for fiber optic cables in China will continue to grow steadily in 2016, and five years later, there is a high possibility of a new round of large-scale communication network infrastructure construction.

*The 'Internet+' action was strengthened, and the policy continued to be favorable. Internet plus industries put forward higher and higher requirements for fixed network bandwidth, and the market demand for optical fiber and cable is bound to continue to increase. In 5 years, Lin Zhong predicts that with the continuous increase in network bandwidth requirements from various industries, more network infrastructure will need to be replaced, and a new round of large-scale construction will once again take shape.

Several mainstream manufacturers in China are building new factories to increase the production capacity of fiber preform rods, fiber drawing towers, and optical cables. The output of fiber optic cables will increase in 2016, and the tight supply and demand situation in the market will be improved.

*Tang Hongju, an engineer at the Cable Institute of the Design Institute, stated that 2016 was a year for the three major telecom operators to consolidate and promote network upgrades. Whether it was China Mobile, China Unicom, or China Telecom, they were all vigorously promoting the transition of users from 2G applications to 4G applications. In this process, telecom operators must increase their construction efforts in network optimization, bandwidth expansion, and eliminating network blind spots.

From a broad perspective, the investment scale of the entire communication industry may not increase significantly compared to 2015, and may even slightly decrease. However, as the most fundamental sub field in communication networks, the investment in the optical communication field will not only not decrease, but will also maintain stable growth in the coming years.

In 2016, including China Mobile, telecom operators continued to increase their efforts in fiber optic deployment. In the first quarter, the number of China Mobile's home broadband customers exceeded 60 million, which proves this. In the next two years, the demand for fiber optic cables from domestic operators will continue to rise steadily, but the growth rate will decrease. At the same time, the demand for some special types of fiber optic cable products will increase. In addition, it is expected that the price of fiber optic cables will remain stable at the current level and may experience a slight decline by the end of 2016.
