The rail type photovoltaic DC detection module is specifically designed for intelligent photovoltaic combiner boxes, used to monitor the operation status of solar panels in photovoltaic arrays, measure string current, collect lightning protection device status and DC circuit breaker status in combiner boxes. The device is equipped with RS485 interface to upload the measured and collected data and equipment status.

In a single inverter system, the instrument is directly connected to the inverter. If your inverter has a built-in Revenue Grade Table (RGM; this inverter is called an Revenue Grade Inverter), you can connect an external instrument on the same bus as the RGM.

The installation instructions should specify the national electrical code and ANSI/NFPA 70 wiring method used.

2.1 Installation Guide: The instrument is connected to the frequency converter via RS485.

AC wire specifications: 1.3 to 2.0 mm diameter/22-18 AWG stranded wire, 600 V, THHN, MTW or THWN type.

RS485 wiring specifications: Cable type: at least 3-wire shielded twisted pair (4-wire cable can be used)

Wire cross-sectional area: 0.32-0.81 mm 2/24-18 AWG (can be used with Category 5 cables)

Instruments are considered as' long connected devices' that require disconnecting devices (circuit breakers, switches, or circuit breakers) and overcurrent protection (fuses or circuit breakers).

The instrument consumes 10-30mAh, therefore the rated value of any switch, circuit breaker, fuse, and/or circuit breaker is determined by the line gauge, power supply voltage, and required current interruption rating.

Switches, circuit breakers, or circuit breakers must be located near the instrument and easy to operate.

Use circuit breakers or fuses with a rated current of 20A or less.

When monitoring multiple lines, use grouped circuit breakers.

Circuit breakers or fuses must protect power terminals labeled L1 and L2. In rare cases where there is overcurrent protection at the neutral point, the overcurrent protection device must simultaneously interrupt both the neutral point and the ungrounded conductor.

The circuit protection/disconnection system must comply with all national and local electrical regulations.

2.2 Installation and Connection of Instruments

2.2.1 Installing Instruments

1. The instrument should be installed in the distribution box

2. Install the instrument on a 35mm German industrial standard guide rail.

2.2.2 Installing CTs:

Before closing the current transformer, turn off the AC power supply.

2. Install current transformers around the tested conductor. The split core current transformer can be installed three times around the conductor. Nylon zip ties can be fixed around the CT to prevent accidental opening.

3. Install CT with arrows pointing towards the grid for consumption or outlet measurement. The current transformer is packaged together with the electricity meter.
