The MTM2 micro traction testing machine produced by PCS in the UK is a flexible and versatile instrument that can measure the friction performance of lubricated and non lubricated contacts under a wide range of rolling and sliding conditions. One of the main applications of this instrument is the fully automatic measurement of the traction force of lubricants under common operating conditions of internal combustion engines. This instrument can also measure the growth of anti-wear additive films on specimens, study soft contacts, and measure reciprocating friction wear.
This instrument can perform fully automatic testing: the control software is installed on a regular computer, and the operator can easily define a testing program that includes temperature, load, and speed sequences.
