Fiber optic variable attenuator
FVA-UV fiber variable attenuator is an optical mechanical device used to help control the light flux between two optical fibers. FVA-UV is connected to the optical fiber through SMA 905 connector, and uniformly attenuates all wavelengths of light in the UV-VIS to NIR near-infrared band.
The FVA-AG-UV attenuator is directly connected to devices with SMA905 interface, such as spectrometers and light sources produced by Wenyi Optoelectronics.
FVA-A-UV electrically controlled fiber attenuator, using RS232 data control,It can accurately achieve 0-100% output.

Why is signal attenuation necessary?
In applications with high-intensity brightness levels, such as laser identification, too much light entering the spectrometer can exceed the detection limit of the spectrometer's high-sensitivity linear array detector. Similarly, in some absorbance measurements, signal attenuation may also be required, and too much light energy may saturate the reference measurement.
In some examples, to avoid detector saturation, different grids can be used, optical entry holes can be changed (by installing slits or using small diameter fibers), or medium density filters can be added to the optical path. Another method (through software) is to modify the integration time of the spectrometer to limit the light collected by the detector - similar to changing the shutter speed of a camera for a faster exposure time. This product is suitable for use when these signal attenuation techniques cannot be used or do not meet the requirements.
This product is an aluminum device with 2 fiber optic collimators installed. A mechanical adjustment wheel is used to control the amount of light reaching "read", with a diameter of 24mm. By rotating the adjustment wheel 0-360 °, the light attenuation can be reduced by 0%~100%. An M3 plastic large head screw is used to lock the already adjusted position.

working principle:
The incident light is uniformly dispersed by the first collimating mirror, and then fine tuned by the adjustable slit inside the attenuator before being focused by the second collimating mirror and output.
The wavelength range for the use of this product is 200nm-2500nm.
