AMS flue particulate matter sampling system

Automatic/semi-automatic constant velocity sampling, compliant with EPA and EN standards

AMS flue particulate matter sampling system

The particulate matter sampling system in the flue of AMS company in Italy is designed and produced strictly in accordance with EN13284-1 and EPA Method 17 for its probes. This probe can install the filter membrane bracket at the front end and place it into the flue. The flue gas enters through the inlet nozzle.

IsoFlow202 constant velocity calculator, capable of measuring flow rate, pressure difference, and temperature. All data regarding the smoke state will be calculated and stored, and viewed before sampling settings.

The second sampling system in EN13284 is a constant velocity heating sampling head, coupled with a rear mounted filter membrane holder equipped with a heating filter box. This method can be used with either a manual sampling system or an automatic sampling system, and complies with ISO-9096. When manually sampling the system, first measure the state inside the flue, and then select an appropriate size of intake nozzle for formal sampling. According to ISO 3966:77, the measurement of flue gas velocity must use a standard L-type pitot tube, otherwise only an S-type pitot tube calibrated with a standard pitot tube can be used.

The suction tube between the intake nozzle and the filter membrane must be long enough to reach the desired sampling point. The straw and filter membrane holder must be temperature controlled to prevent condensation of water vapor and to avoid filtration difficulties caused by high dew points of acidic gases. Usually, the diameter of the filter membrane is 50mm and the flow rate is 1-10m3/h, The sampling time for each sampling point is 30-60 minutes. It is recommended to use filter membranes containing organic binders, quartz fiber filter membranes, or PTFE covered glass fiber filter membranes (maximum operating temperature of 280 ℃) that will not interfere with particulate matter. Fiberglass filter membranes can also be used, but they may react with certain components and cause interference.

Manual sampling can be completed by combining any sampling pump from the AirCube series with the IsoFlow 201 Pro constant velocity parameter calculator;

Automatic isokinetic sampling complies with ISO-9096 and ISO-10780 standards and is performed by AirCube ™ COM2 ISO and AirCube ™ HE ISO sampling pump for sampling, or AirCube for sampling ™ Com2 and HE sampling pumps are directly connected to the IsoFlow 201 Pro isokinetic parameter calculator.

Sampling steps

Procedure

At representative sampling points, a known volume of gas is drawn in through the main gas path through a period of constant velocity sampling. The particulate matter in the sample gas is filtered through a weighed filter membrane, which will be dried and weighed. Calculate the particle concentration based on the difference in quality before and after the filter membrane and the volume of the sample gas.

We can provide assembled probes, including pitot tubes and thermocouple thermometers. All components of the probe can be disassembled and used independently by the user.
