Open circuit fault: If the insulation of the cable is normal, but the voltage cannot be transmitted normally due to conductor reasons, it can be considered as an open circuit fault, such as the core wire or ground wire appearing to be broken but not broken, a large line resistance in one part of the core wire, and a broken core. Simple open circuit faults are rarely seen, and are mostly manifested as coexisting with low or high resistance faults.

Low resistance fault: If the insulation medium of the cable is damaged, a type of phase to phase or phase to ground fault that can be directly tested using the "low voltage pulse method" is called a leakage low resistance fault. It is usually called a low impedance fault. The general resistance value is below several hundred ohms. If the resistance value is "zero", it is called a short circuit fault, which is a special case of low resistance fault.
