How to operate and use the demagnetization instrument for mutual inductance transformers

The operation and use of the demagnetization instrument for mutual inductance transformers should follow the standardized process. The following are specific steps and precautions:1、 Preparation before use
-
Check equipment and wiring
- Confirm that the appearance of the demagnetizer is not damaged and the power switch is in the off state.
- Check if the test wire and grounding wire are intact, ensuring no damage or looseness.
- Before the experiment, all leads of the transformer (including overhead lines, enclosed busbars, and cables) need to be untied, and these leads should be kept as far away from the transformer casing as possible (surrounding grounding bodies and metal suspensions should be kept at least 20cm away from the transformer casing).
- Ensure that the testing pliers are in close contact with the sleeve clamp. If there is conductive paste or rust on the sleeve clamp, it should be wiped clean with a sandpaper or dry cotton cloth.
-
connected device
- Connect the demagnetizer to an external AC220V power supply using a power cord.
- Connect the grounding terminal of the demagnetizer to the ground reliably with a grounding wire.
- Connect the demagnetization output terminal to the demagnetized phase on the high-voltage side of the transformer. If it is unclear which phase has the highest remanence, it can be demagnetized twice to three times (such as AB, BC, CA phases), and the demagnetization output is not positive or negative. For single-phase transformers, connect phases A and X; For three-phase transformers, only phase B and phase 0 can be connected (some demagnetizers only need to demagnetize phase B to achieve the purpose).
2、 Operation steps
-
Startup and Settings
- Turn on the power switch of the demagnetizer, the welcome interface will be displayed on the LCD screen, and the system will perform self check and reset the voltage regulator to zero. After completing the self-test, enter the main menu.
- Select the "demagnetization test" option in the main menu to enter the demagnetization settings menu.
- Set demagnetization current: Select the appropriate demagnetization current according to the needs (such as 5A, 1A, 200mA, 5mA, etc.), and some demagnetization instruments can be adjusted freely within this range.
- Choose demagnetization mode: manual or automatic. In manual mode, the demagnetization process needs to be controlled by oneself, while in automatic mode, the demagnetizer will automatically demagnetize according to the set program.
-
Activate demagnetization
- After confirming that the wiring is correct and the settings are complete, click on "Start Demagnetization" or the corresponding start button, and the demagnetizer will start working.
- During the demagnetization process, the LCD screen will display the percentage of demagnetization progress, and some demagnetizers will also display the demagnetization current curve graph.
- Wait for the demagnetization progress to reach 100%, and the demagnetization will be completed.
-
Ending and Cleaning
- After demagnetization is completed, press the "Reset" button to discharge the demagnetizer and return to the main menu.
- Turn off the power switch, remove the test wiring, and clean the site.
3、 Precautions
-
safe operation
- Operators must hold relevant qualifications and be familiar with equipment operating procedures.
- During the experiment, operators are not allowed to leave the testing site and must be monitored throughout the entire process.
- Ensure reliable grounding of equipment to prevent electric shock hazards.
-
Environmental Requirements
- The demagnetizer should be used in a dry, ventilated, and dust-free environment to avoid strong electromagnetic interference.
- The working temperature range is generally from -10 ℃ to 50 ℃, and the environmental humidity is ≤ 85% RH (refer to the equipment manual for details).
-
exception handling
- If any abnormal phenomena are encountered (such as equipment alarm, abnormal display, etc.), the power should be turned off in a timely manner, the equipment should be restarted, or after-sales personnel should be contacted for handling.
- Do not disassemble or modify the demagnetizer without authorization to avoid affecting equipment performance or causing safety hazards.
