Several tips for maintaining stainless steel flanges, free to give to you!
Date: 2019-11-22Read: 1

Flanges, one of the widely used mechanical components in industrial equipment and production, are one of the connecting parts, mainly used between pipe ends or on the inlet and outlet of equipment. The reason why flanges have such a wide range of applications is due to their convenient material selection, simple manufacturing, low cost, wide use, and easy disassembly.

Among all flange mechanical components, stainless steel flanges are significantly superior to other plastic pipe fittings due to their excellent pressure resistance, temperature resistance, flexibility, heat resistance, etc. In terms of installation, stainless steel flange pipe fittings are easy to install and have good thermal conductivity, making them suitable for floor heating systems. So, what are the precautions for using stainless steel flanges during use?

  1. In order to prevent intergranular corrosion of stainless steel flanges, the current should not be too high when welding flange covers, about 20% less than that of carbon steel welding rods, and the arc should not be too long. It is recommended to use narrow weld beads;
  2. When welding, dry welding rods should be used, and oil and other dirt on the electrode coating should be avoided to reduce the carbon content in the weld and the quality of the welded parts;
  3. When welding stainless steel flange fittings, repeated heating can precipitate carbides, reducing their corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
  4. Chromium stainless steel flange fittings have a relatively large hardening after welding, and are prone to cracking. If the same type of chromium stainless steel welding rod is used for welding, preheating at 300 ℃ or above and slow cooling treatment at around 700 ℃ after welding must be carried out. If the welded parts cannot undergo post weld heat treatment, stainless steel flange welding rods should be used.
  5. When welding flanges, adding some stability elements such as Ti, Nb, Mo, etc. in moderation, the overall quality of the welded product is better than that of chromium stainless steel flanges.
