How to maintain and upkeep a high-speed disperser
Date: 2025-08-12Read: 2
High speed dispersers use high-speed rotating impellers to forcefully shear, disperse, and mix materials, and are widely used in industries such as coatings, inks, chemicals, and food. To ensure its stable operation and extend its service life, system maintenance should be carried out from daily cleaning, regular inspections, lubrication maintenance, safe operation, and other aspects. The following is a specific maintenance plan:

1、 Daily cleaning and pre-treatment

  1. Stop and clear immediately
    • PurposeTo prevent residual solidification of materials, corrosion of equipment, or blockage of pipelines.
    • operation
      • Immediately rinse the dispersion plate, stirring shaft, and inner wall of the dispersion cylinder with clean water or solvent after each use.
      • For high viscosity or easily drying materials (such as resins and adhesives), soak them in specialized cleaning agents and scrub them.
      • Avoid water or solvents from entering electrical components such as motors and bearings during cleaning.
  2. Material pretreatment
    • Filter impuritiesFilter the particles, fibers, or metal fragments in the material through a sieve before feeding to prevent wear and tear on the dispersion disk or blockage of gaps.
    • control temperatureIf the material needs to be heated or cooled, ensure that the temperature is within the allowable range of the equipment (usually -10 ℃~150 ℃) to avoid sealing failure caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

2、 Regular inspection and component replacement

  1. Key component inspection cycle

    component inspection frequency Inspection content
dispersion disc weekly Wear, deformation, and corrosion; Whether the gap is uniform (usually 0.5-3mm, adjusted according to the process)
mechanical seal monthly Leakage situation, sealing surface wear, spring elasticity; Is the sealing fluid pressure stable (should be higher than the material pressure by 0.05~0.1MPa)
Bearing quarterly Lubricating oil condition (whether it changes color or emulsifies), axial/radial clearance (measured with a dial gauge)
    Motor biannually Insulation resistance (≥ 1M Ω), temperature rise (≤ 75 ℃), vibration value (≤ 4.5mm/s)
Belt/Coupling monthly Belt tension (measured with a tension meter), coupling alignment accuracy (deviation ≤ 0.1mm)
  2. Replacement standards for vulnerable parts

    • dispersion discReplace when wear causes the gap to expand by more than 20% of the design value, or when cracks or deformations appear on the surface.
    • mechanical sealIf the leakage exceeds 5 drops per minute, or if there are scratches or corrosion on the sealing surface, it needs to be replaced as a whole.
    • BearingReplace when the operating noise increases, the temperature rises abnormally, or the clearance exceeds the standard value (such as deep groove ball bearings with clearance greater than 0.1mm).

3、 Lubrication and cooling system maintenance

  1. Bearing lubrication
    • lubrication method
      • Lubricating grease: Choose lithium based grease that is resistant to high temperatures and water (such as NLGI No.2), and replenish it every 3 months, with a filling amount of 1/3 to 1/2 of the bearing chamber.
      • Oil lubrication: Adopting a circulating oil system, the oil temperature is controlled at 40-60 ℃, and the oil needs to be filtered regularly (every six months) or replaced annually.
    • PrecautionsAvoid mixing different brands of lubricating grease to prevent chemical incompatibility and performance degradation.
  2. Cooling system maintenance
    • Water cooled models
      • Check the cooling water flow rate (≥ 5L/min) and pressure (0.2~0.4MPa) to prevent cavitation or blockage.
      • Regularly clean the radiator (quarterly) to remove scale and algae.
    • Air cooled models
      • Clean the dust on the fan blades and heat sinks (monthly) to ensure smooth ventilation.
      • Check the insulation of the fan motor (every six months) to prevent overheating and burning.

4、 Electrical system maintenance

  1. Motor maintenance
    • CleanBlow the dust on the surface of the motor with compressed air to avoid poor heat dissipation caused by dust accumulation.
    • Wiring inspectionTighten the wiring terminals every six months to prevent looseness from causing arcing or overheating.
    • insulation testMeasure the insulation resistance of the motor winding to ground with a megohmmeter (≥ 1M Ω). If it is lower than the standard, it needs to be dried or rewound.
  2. Frequency converter parameter calibration
    • speed controlRegularly check the matching between the output frequency of the frequency converter and the actual speed (error ≤ 1%) to avoid a decrease in dispersion effect due to parameter drift.
    • overload protectionAdjust the overload current threshold based on the material characteristics (usually 120%~150% of the rated current) to prevent false triggering of shutdown.

5、 Safety operation standards

  1. Pre startup inspection
    • Confirm that the dispersing cylinder is firmly fixed and there is no risk of collision with the cylinder wall on the dispersing disk.
    • Check if safety devices such as protective covers and emergency stop buttons are intact.
    • Conduct a 30 second no-load test run and observe that the motor and bearings have no abnormal noise or vibration.
  2. Monitoring during operation
    • Real time monitoring of parameters such as current, temperature, vibration, etc., and immediate shutdown if exceeded.
    • Avoid idling (running time ≤ 1 minute when there is no material) to prevent overheating and deformation of the dispersing disk.
    • Do not open the cylinder head or reach into the cylinder during the dispersion process to prevent mechanical injury.
  3. Post shutdown processing
    • Close the material inlet valve first, and then reduce the speed to stop the machine.
    • After cutting off the power, hang a warning sign reading "Do not close" to prevent accidental startup.

6、 Long term disuse maintenance

  1. rust prevention treatment
    • After cleaning the equipment, apply anti rust oil (such as WD-40) to the metal surface.
    • The dispersing disc, stirring shaft and other components can be soaked in mineral oil for preservation.
  2. storage environment
    • Store in a dry and ventilated room to avoid moisture causing electrical components to short circuit.
    • Cover with a dust cover to prevent dust from entering the bearings or motor.
