Precautions for the use of stainless steel deep well pumps
Date: 2025-07-31Read: 2
Stainless steel deep well pumps are widely used in fields such as agricultural irrigation, industrial water supply, and domestic water supply due to their corrosion resistance, compact structure, and high efficiency. To ensure its safe operation and extend its service life, the following precautions should be taken when using it:

1、 Preparation before installation

  1. Shaft inspection
    • Confirm that the diameter, depth, and water quality of the wellbore meet the specifications of the pump (such as minimum wellbore diameter, maximum sediment concentration, etc.).
    • Remove debris, mud, or obstacles from the well to avoid clogging the impeller or damaging the pump body.
    • Check if the wellbore is vertical to prevent wear caused by tilting during pump installation.
  2. Pump body inspection
    • Check if the pump model, power, head and other parameters match the actual requirements.
    • Check whether the pump body, motor, cables and other components are intact, without cracks or leaks.
    • Confirm that the cable length is sufficient and the insulation performance is good (use a megohmmeter to measure the resistance value).
  3. environmental conditions
    • Avoid use in flammable, explosive, highly corrosive gases, or high-temperature environments.
    • Ensure that the power supply voltage is consistent with the rated voltage of the pump and equipped with overload protection devices.

2、 Installation precautions

  1. vertical installation
    • The pump body must be lowered vertically to avoid tilting and causing friction between the impeller and the pump casing or bearing eccentricity.
    • Use specialized lifting tools to prevent cables from being pulled or tangled.
  2. Lower depth control
    • The lower end of the pump body should be kept at least 0.5 meters away from the bottom of the well to prevent the suction of sediment or debris.
    • The liquid level should be higher than the inlet of the pump body to avoid motor burnout caused by idling.
  3. Cable fixation
    • The cable needs to be fixed on the pump body with waterproof tape or special clamps to prevent scratching during the lowering process.
    • Cable joints need to be waterproofed (such as heat shrink tubing sealing) and avoid friction areas at the wellhead.
  4. Water outlet connection
    • Use flexible joints (such as rubber hoses) to connect the pump body to the pipeline, reducing vibration transmission.
    • The slope of the pipeline should be reasonable to avoid water accumulation or backflow.

3、 Maintenance during operation

  1. Pre startup inspection
    • Confirm that the valve is in the open position to prevent damage to the pump body due to excessive pipeline pressure.
    • Jogging test whether the motor direction is correct (it should rotate clockwise from the motor end).
  2. operation monitoring
    • Regularly check whether the current and voltage are stable to avoid overloading or undervoltage operation.
    • Observe whether the water flow rate and pressure are normal. If there are any abnormalities, stop the machine immediately for inspection.
    • The running sound of the pump body and abnormal noise may indicate bearing wear or impeller blockage.
  3. Prevent idling
    • Ensure that the water level in the well is sufficient to avoid the pump body being exposed to the water surface and causing dry wear and damage to the seals.
    • Equipped with a liquid level controller or float switch to achieve automatic start stop protection.
  4. Antifreeze measures
    • When not in use in winter, the pump body should be lifted out of the well or the accumulated water in the well should be drained to prevent freezing and cracking.

4、 Long term disuse and storage

  1. Cleaning and maintenance
    • Before stopping use, rinse the inside of the pump body with clean water to remove sediment or impurities.
    • After disassembly, inspect vulnerable parts such as impellers and bearings, and replace them if necessary.
  2. Moisture and rust proof
    • Store the pump body in a dry and ventilated place to avoid damp environments that may cause the motor to become damp.
    • Apply anti rust oil to metal parts, and wrap the cables neatly and hang them for storage.
  3. Regular trial operation
    • Before resuming use after long-term disuse, a short-term trial run is required to confirm that there are no abnormalities before formal use.

5、 Common fault handling

fault phenomenon Possible reasons treatment method
No water output or low flow rate Impeller blockage, motor reversal, low water level in the well Clean the impeller, adjust the phase sequence, and check the water level
Motor overheating Overload operation, bearing wear, unstable voltage Reduce load, replace bearings, and stabilize voltage
Leakage or insulation degradation Cable damage and aging of sealing components Repair the cable and replace the sealing ring
High vibration or noise Pump body tilting, impeller imbalance, bearing damage Reinstall, calibrate impeller, replace bearings

6、 Safety regulations

  1. Operator requirements
    • Installation and maintenance must be carried out by professional personnel, and unauthorized personnel are prohibited from operating.
    • Insulated gloves should be worn before operation to prevent electric shock.
  2. Emergency shutdown
    • When severe vibration, odor or smoke is found in the pump body, immediately cut off the power and check the cause.
  3. environmental requirements
    • Abandoned pump bodies should be treated as hazardous waste to avoid environmental pollution.

By strictly adhering to the above precautions, the operational stability of stainless steel deep well pumps can be significantly improved, the service life can be extended, and the failure rate and maintenance costs can be reduced.
