How to maintain the water supply pump
Date: 2025-09-12Read: 2
The maintenance of the feedwater pump needs to be comprehensively carried out from multiple aspects such as daily inspection, regular maintenance, lubrication maintenance, electrical system maintenance, environmental management, shutdown maintenance, and spare parts management. The following are specific maintenance methods:

1、 Daily inspection

  1. Running status check

    • temperatureCheck the temperature of the water pump bearings, motors, and other parts. Generally, the bearing temperature should not exceed 75 ℃, and the motor temperature should not exceed the specified value on the nameplate. If the temperature is too high, it may be due to poor lubrication, excessive load, or poor heat dissipation, and the machine should be stopped for inspection in a timely manner.
    • soundThe sound of a normally running water pump is smooth and uniform. If there is abnormal noise, vibration, or friction sound, it may indicate impeller wear, bearing damage, or foreign objects entering the pump body. It is necessary to immediately stop the machine for investigation.
    • Pressure and flow rateObserve whether the inlet and outlet pressure and flow rate of the water pump are stable and comply with normal operating parameters. If there is a sudden change in pressure or flow rate, it may be due to pipeline blockage, impeller damage, or seal leakage, and it should be repaired in a timely manner.
  2. Inspection of connection parts

    • boltCheck whether the connecting bolts between the water pump, motor, and pipeline are loose. If they are loose, they should be tightened in a timely manner to prevent vibration from worsening due to looseness, affecting equipment operation, and even causing component damage.
    • pipelineCheck the pipeline for leaks, wear, or corrosion, and promptly repair or replace any problems found to ensure the normal operation of the system.

2、 Regular maintenance

  1. Cleaning and maintenance

    • appearanceRegularly clean the dust, oil stains, and rust on the surface of the water pump to maintain a clean appearance of the equipment, which is beneficial for heat dissipation and timely detection of potential problems.
    • Impeller and pump casingEvery certain period of time (such as six months or a year), disassemble the pump body, clean the scale, impurities, etc. inside the impeller and pump casing to prevent their accumulation from affecting the performance of the water pump. At the same time, check whether the impeller is worn or corroded. If there is severe wear, it should be replaced in a timely manner.
  2. Lubrication and sealing maintenance

    • lubricationAccording to the equipment manual, regularly replace the bearing lubricating oil or grease. Generally speaking, for bearings that use lubricating oil, the lubricating oil should be replaced every 2000-3000 hours of operation; Bearings using lubricating grease should be replenished or replaced with lubricating grease every 1000-1500 hours of operation.
    • sealCheck the wear of mechanical seals or packing seals, and replace seals promptly if there are leaks.
  3. Electrical system inspection

    • Motor insulationRegularly measure the insulation resistance of motor windings with an insulation resistance meter, generally requiring an insulation resistance of not less than 0.5M Ω. If the insulation resistance is too low, the cause should be identified and dried or repaired.
    • terminal blockCheck whether the wiring terminals of the motor and control box are loose or oxidized. If there are any problems, deal with them in a timely manner to ensure reliable electrical connections and prevent faults such as heating and ignition caused by poor contact.

3、 Other precautions

  1. Stop pump maintenanceWater pumps that have been out of use for a long time should be drained of accumulated water to prevent freezing, cracking, and corrosion. An appropriate amount of anti rust oil can be injected into the pump casing to protect the internal components.

  2. Replace partsFor vulnerable parts such as impellers, seals, bearings, etc., spare parts should be prepared in advance according to actual operating conditions and service life, so as to replace them in a timely manner and reduce maintenance time.

  3. Environmental Management

    • Temperature and HumidityHigh temperature environment can cause the lubricating oil of the water pump to become thinner, accelerate aging, and reduce lubrication effect; Low temperatures may cause lubricating oil to solidify and seals to harden and become brittle. High humidity environments can easily cause rust on the metal parts of water pumps and moisture on electrical components. Therefore, maintenance cycles and measures need to be adjusted according to environmental conditions.
    • Installation location and ventilation conditionsWater pumps installed in poorly ventilated and confined spaces generate heat that is difficult to dissipate during operation, causing the temperature of the motor and pump body to rise and accelerating component aging. Therefore, it should be ensured that the water pump is installed in a well ventilated location.
