What are the common faults and solutions of liquid level transmitters
Date: 2025-11-27Read: 10
Liquid level transmitters may encounter various faults during use, which may involve circuit, mechanical, environmental, and installation aspects. Here are some common faults and their solutions:

1、 Circuit malfunction

  1. Signal line detachment or power failure

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter has no indication or abnormal output signal.
    • solutionReconnect or handle power faults to ensure that the power voltage and wiring comply with specifications.
  2. Circuit board damage

    • phenomenonThe output signal of the liquid level transmitter is unstable or has no output.
    • solutionReplace the circuit board or the entire transmitter.
  3. electromagnetic interference

    • phenomenonThe output signal of the liquid level transmitter fluctuates greatly.
    • solutionUse shielded cables and check if the electromagnetic shielding is intact to avoid signal interference from external devices.

2、 Mechanical malfunction

  1. Sensor damage or deformation

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter measures inaccurately or has no indication.
    • solutionCheck if the sensor is damaged or deformed, and replace or repair it promptly if necessary.
  2. Blockage or air leakage in the connecting pipeline

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter has a slow response or inaccurate indication.
    • solutionCheck whether the connecting pipeline is blocked or leaking, and if necessary, clean or replace the connecting pipeline in a timely manner.
  3. High and low pressure side membranes or capillaries are damaged

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter indicates maximum or minimum, or the indication is too large or too small.
    • solutionReplace damaged membranes or capillaries to ensure the transmitter is functioning properly.

3、 Environmental factors

  1. temperature change

    • phenomenonThe measurement error of the liquid level transmitter is large or the output signal is unstable.
    • solutionChoose liquid level transmitters that are resistant to high or low temperatures to ensure they operate within the appropriate temperature range.
  2. humidity variation

    • phenomenonThe internal moisture of the liquid level transmitter may cause a short circuit in the circuit or damage to the components.
    • solutionChoose a moisture-proof liquid level transmitter and strengthen protective measures in humid environments.
  3. vibration

    • phenomenonThe output signal of the liquid level transmitter fluctuates greatly or the measurement is inaccurate.
    • solutionChoose a seismic resistant liquid level transmitter and ensure its secure installation to reduce the impact of vibration on measurement.

4、 Installation and operation issues

  1. Improper installation

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter measures inaccurately or cannot function properly.
    • solutionEnsure that the liquid level transmitter is installed correctly, with flanges aligned and well sealed. For double flange level transmitters, special attention should be paid to the installation position and angle to avoid measurement errors caused by improper positioning.
  2. zero drift

    • phenomenonThe liquid level transmitter experiences measurement errors after prolonged operation or changes in environmental conditions.
    • solutionRegularly perform zero calibration to ensure measurement accuracy.
  3. No temperature compensation has been performed

    • phenomenonIn environments with significant temperature changes, liquid level transmitters have large measurement errors.
    • solutionEnsure that the liquid level transmitter has temperature compensation function and perform manual compensation if necessary.

5、 Other faults and their handling methods

  1. The liquid level transmitter indicates below zero

    • Possible reasonsBlockage on the positive pressure side, lack of insulation in the transmitter leading to abnormal operation of electronic components, etc.
    • solutionCheck and clear the blockage on the positive pressure side; Insulate the transmitter.
  2. The liquid level transmitter indicates the upper limit of the range or exceeds the upper limit of the range

    • Possible reasonsBalance fluid loss, valve blockage, etc.
    • solutionCheck and refill the balance fluid; Use methods such as steam heating to unclog the valve.
  3. Slow or excessive response of liquid level transmitter

    • Possible reasonsImproper setting of transmitter response time, improper setting of control system filters, etc.
    • solutionAdjust the response time of the transmitter; Adjust the filter parameters of the control system.
