How to make the correct selection of FESTO Festo cylinder specifications?
FESTO Festo cylinder is a pneumatic component widely used in various automation equipment, characterized by the following aspects:
*FESTO Festo cylinders have a wide range of cylinder diameters: cylinder diameters vary from 5mm to 250mm, but in non-standard industries, cylinders with diameters exceeding 100 are relatively less commonly used.
*There are various stroke lengths: The stroke length of FESTO Festo cylinders also varies greatly, ranging from 5mm to 4 meters, but cylinders exceeding two meters are relatively rare in practical applications.
*Equipped with magnetic ring control: FESTO Festo cylinders are usually equipped with magnetic rings to control the motion state of the cylinder.
*Buffer adjustment function: In order to avoid excessive impact force during operation and damage to the cylinder, most cylinders are equipped with buffer adjustment devices at both ends. The selection of buffer is usually determined based on the stroke and cylinder diameter of the cylinder, and a model slightly larger than the theoretical value is generally chosen.
*Diversified fixing methods: There are various ways to fix cylinders, which can meet the needs of various automation applications.
When choosing a cylinder model, the following factors need to be considered:
1. Type selection: Choose the appropriate type based on the usage location, installation requirements, function, and actual operating form of the cylinder, such as standard cylinder, mini cylinder, ultra-thin cylinder, dual axis cylinder, or rodless cylinder.
2. Cylinder diameter selection: Cylinder diameter refers to the diameter of the inner diameter of the cylinder barrel, which mainly depends on the load of the cylinder and the supply pressure of the gas source. The appropriate cylinder diameter size can be determined by calculating the formula or querying the corresponding table of cylinder diameter and force. When selecting a cylinder, it should be ensured that its working load is controlled between 60% and 80%. Under the same air pressure, the larger the inner diameter, the greater the thrust of the cylinder.
3. Travel determination: Determine the stroke of the cylinder based on the distance that the workpiece needs to move. For example, if the operational displacement of the cylinder is required to be 113mm during actual use, a cylinder with a standard stroke of 125mm should be selected. Meanwhile, during the operation of the cylinder, a portion of the stroke is usually left at both ends as a buffer, with a standard clearance of about 2% -5% of the stroke.
The role of FESTO Festo cylinder design parameters
FESTO Festo cylinder design parameters are important factors determining engine performance and lifespan. For example, piston stroke affects the power and torque output of the engine, while cylinder material can affect the weight and heat dissipation of the engine. At the same time, different numbers and sizes of valves can also affect the intake and exhaust volume of the engine, thereby affecting the efficiency and power of the engine.
Common numerical ranges for FESTO Festo cylinder design parameters
1. The cylinder diameter is generally 70-100mm, which can enable the engine to have good combustion efficiency and torque output.
2. The piston stroke is generally 50-100mm, which can ensure good power output and combustion efficiency of the engine from low speed to high speed.
The ratio of cylinder diameter to stroke is generally 0.8-1.2, which can ensure the uniformity of fuel combustion and the smoothness of the engine.
4. The number of valves is generally 2-4, and a smaller number of valves can increase the intake speed in the cylinder, thereby improving combustion efficiency, but the gas to displacement ratio will also decrease accordingly.
5. The valve diameter and lift are generally 25-50mm, and this range of valve size can ensure sufficient intake and exhaust of the engine, thereby achieving high efficiency.
6. The valve spacing is generally 50-80mm, which can ensure sufficient distance between the intake and exhaust passages, making the flow of inlet and outlet smoother.
7. The cylinder volume is generally 0.5-1.5L, and the volume size within this range can enable the engine to have a high efficiency and output capacity under different loads.
