What are the common faults of Mosha Ethernet switches
Date: 2025-07-02Read: 16

1. Physical damage to the port

  • phenomenonThe port indicator light is not on, and the device cannot be connected; Or frequently disconnect after connection.
  • reason
    • industrial scenarioVibration causes RJ45 interface to loosen (such as in rail transit and construction machinery);
    • Corrosive environmentSalt spray, chemical gas corrosion port contacts (such as offshore platforms, chemical plants);
    • Human error operationForcefully plug or use inferior network cables.
  • Solution
    • switch toM12 interface(Anti vibration level up to IEC 60068-2-6 5g);
    • Regularly clean the port (using a dust-free cloth and alcohol), apply conductive paste to prevent oxidation;
    • Case: A wind farm experienced poor port contact due to salt spray corrosion. After switching to M12 interface, the failure rate decreased by 90%.

2. Power module malfunction

  • phenomenonThe switch cannot start or restarts frequently; The power indicator light is flashing abnormally.
  • reason
    • voltage fluctuationUnstable voltage in industrial power grid (such as outside the range of AC 85-264V);
    • Redundancy failureOne of the dual power inputs was damaged and not replaced in a timely manner;
    • overheat protectionPoor heat dissipation leads to power module frequency reduction or shutdown.
  • Solution
    • install additionallyregulated power supply(Output voltage fluctuation ≤ ± 5%);
    • configurationPower monitoring module(such as the power alarm function of Moxa EDS-P510A);
    • Case: A power module in a steel plant was burnt out due to voltage fluctuations, and the problem was resolved after installing a UPS.

3. Fan malfunction

  • phenomenonSwitch temperature is too high, resulting in decreased performance; Fan noise is abnormal or stopped.
  • reason
    • Dust accumulationIndustrial environment dust clogging fans (such as cement plants, mines);
    • bearing wearLong term high-speed operation leads to the expiration of the fan's lifespan;
    • Intelligent speed regulation failureThe fan cannot automatically adjust its speed based on temperature.
  • Solution
    • selectFanless design(such as Moxa EDS-2000 series) orDust proof fan
    • Regularly clean the fan (using compressed air for blowing);
    • Case: A coal mine switch exceeded the temperature limit due to fan blockage, and after cleaning, the temperature decreased by 20 ℃.
