Water is the source of life, and the quality of drinking water directly affects the physical health of ordinary people. Recently, media reports have sounded the alarm for us, prompting us to use a questioning perspective to examine the quality of drinking water that is closely related to our own health. According to the sampling results released by the Ministry of Health, the channels that have a direct impact on people's domestic water use include possible problems with water supply plants, pipelines transporting tap water, and household water purification equipment. However, it is difficult to ensure the safety of water quality with just one checkpoint.

It is understood that 40% of the water environment system in Chinese rivers is polluted to varying degrees. At the same time, China is also a country with severe water shortage. Experts believe that water scarcity has become one of the major challenges facing China's comprehensive construction of a moderately prosperous society in the next 20 years. Currently, two-thirds of cities in China suffer from insufficient water supply, with 110 cities experiencing severe water shortages. The total amount of water shortage in Chinese cities is 6 billion cubic meters.

According to the sampling results of the National Health Organization, 38 water plants or water supply plants across the country have used unqualified water chemical treatment agents, with heavy metals such as lead exceeding the standard or without valid health permits. At the same time, there may also be problems with the materials used in the water supply and distribution pipes. During this inspection, six types of water supply pipe materials produced by enterprises were found to have excessive leaching of harmful substances such as lead or lack of hygiene permits.

What is even more incomprehensible is that as a company producing water purifier equipment, including some large enterprises, the total number of bacterial colonies in immersion tests exceeds the standard. Some of these eight companies are brands we often see, while others are specialized in producing water purifiers.

According to media reports, even if one chooses to drink bottled water instead of tap water, as well as coin operated water purifiers installed in the community, it may not necessarily ensure safety. Taking the common bottled water as an example, last year, Hunan Province reported the results of targeted monitoring of commodity quality in the circulation field in the third quarter, which showed that the qualified rate of bottled drinking water quality testing was only 27.3%, and the qualified rate of water dispensers was only 44%.

The use of water quality testing instruments and water purifiers will be widely used by more enterprises and individuals as people pay more attention to drinking water safety.
