Debugging household water softeners is a key step in ensuring the normal operation of the equipment and meeting the standards for effluent quality. Here is a setGeneral Debugging Procedure GuideSuitable for most fully automatic household water softeners:
Is the installation complete?(Connect the inlet and outlet, power supply, and sewage outlet)
Is the resin filled?(Some models come with the factory)
Do you want to add salt?(Special regenerated salt added to salt tank 1/2-2/3)
Is it powered on?(Connect the power and observe if the control valve lights up)
Most water softeners are equipped with LCD or button controllers, and the following parameters need to be set:
| Settings | Suggested setting | explanation |
|---|---|---|
| current time | Align with local time | Control the regeneration time point |
| Regeneration cycle/frequency | 3-5 days or depending on water usage | Control how often to clean |
| Resin capacity | Like 30L | According to the actual filling setting |
| Water hardness parameters | Set as local water hardness (in ppm or ° dH) | Suggest inputting after testing |
| Regeneration time | Usually set at 2:00 am | Avoid regeneration during peak water usage hours |

Open the inlet valve, slowly introduce water, and open the drain valve,Rinse for 5-10 minutesUntil the water is clear.
Manually start once“Forced regeneration”Program to fully regenerate the resin once (approximately 1 hour).
Ensure smooth drainage without blockage or backflow.
UseWater hardness testing agent(EDTA method or test paper) The normal concentration of tested water should be ≤ 50 ppm.
Regularly add salt:Salt box maintains 1/3-2/3 salt level
Clean the salt tank every 6-12 months(Preventing Salt Bridges)
Replace resin every 2-3 years(Depending on water quality and dosage)
Cut off water and power when traveling far away to prevent abnormal operation of the system
| problem | reason | handling method |
|---|---|---|
| The water still feels hard when it comes out | Regeneration failure/salt tank without salt | Check the regeneration program and add salt |
| Continuous drainage after regeneration | Control valve stuck/solenoid valve malfunction | Restart the controller and clean the valve body |
| Salt box clumping | Salt Bridge Formation | Use a stick to lightly puncture and clean the salt box |
